TY CROESO DAY HOSPICE is an open door, offering support to families and individuals of Ystradgynlais and district who are facing the challenge of living with long term illness.
We celebrate our 10th Anniversary this year, 2007.
Situated in Heol Eglwys in Ystradgynlais in the lovely Swansea Valley,
we are a charity (registered number 1059508)
funded from voluntary sources and we rely heavily on local support and
the takings from our charity shop in Commercial Street. Such continuous
financial support is needed to maintain and improve our services and facilities.
THE CHALLENGE
Everybody at some time experiences the shock of learning that someone
they know is suffering a long term illness.
The experience can be a lonely and frightening for both the sufferer and their family. Treatment is often demanding, and when all that can be done has been done, the prospect of coping with the condition can be daunting. Often, all that is
needed to make things bearable is a place to go and talk. Somewhere to have a cup of coffee and
find a listening ear. A place where there is support from others who are facing, or have faced similar problems.
TY CROESO – a house of welcome, is such a
place and it is open to all.
WHAT WE PROVIDE
We offer friendship and support, counselling, information and advice,
lunch, complimentary therapies, assisted bathing facilities, occasional
outings, relaxation therapy
WHO WE PROVIDE FOR
Our guests are people with long term illness.
WHAT IS THE COST?
All our services are free, but if you choose to make a donation it would be most welcome.
HOW CAN YOU ATTEND?
Your G.P., District Nurse, Social Worker, Hospital team or Red Cross can
refer you to us. Self referral is also possible. To do this you need to ring Ty Croeso On Monday, Wednesday or Thursday between 9.30a.m. and 2 p.m. and
speak to Liz, Wendy or Margaret on telephone number: 01639 844414.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
We always need volunteers to help as befrienders, shop assistants, etc.
